How Afghanistan women’s football teammade it to Australia
Afghanistan women’s football team (also known as Afghanistan national football team in some international competitions) are one of Afghanistan’s top tier national football teams. They have played in the Olympic games once, in London 2012, where they finished top in the final against Japan after defeating Iran in the third place play-off match. They have also competed in Asian and international tournaments since their inception in 1996. Since then, they have made it to and played in every Olympic and Asian Games since and have competed in the AFC Olympic qualification.
Football and Afghanistan
Afghan women’s football team was formed in 1996 by two Afghan women. They started women’s football team because a few Afghan football players were not encouraged and wanted to play for the national team.
Afghanistan has a long history with women’s football, and is a member of FIFA and AFC. In 1996, Afghanistan’s first official football team was founded, which became Afghanistan national women’s football team. The women’s team consisted of three Afghan women, two of whom were footballers and one was a manager. The players were trained at the national training headquarters in Jalalabad. The women’s team competed between 1996 and 1999 and had to compete several times without success. In 1997, they played their first international match against Jordan in a friendly. The women’s team did not become successful until 1999, when they reached the final of the Olympic qualifiers for the first time. They beat Lebanon in the final and ended up on top of the qualifiers. However, they lost 4-1 in the first round of the Olympic qualifiers against Japan and did not qualify for the Olympics.
In the next Olympics, the women also reached the final, but this time against Lebanon. They also lost the final. It was the same year a new Women’s football team
