Photos: Honoring Veterans Day 2022 in the Southland
Honoring Veterans Day is celebrated on Nov. 11. For the Southland, Veterans Day is a time to bring families and community together to remember that each of us has an eternal connection through our service to our country. The celebration of Veterans Day in Riverside County is unique from year to year, and is an opportunity to honor our veterans. Veterans should be honored in accordance with law, which was established in 1941 through the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal year 1941.
How the Veterans Day celebration is organized
The County of Riverside will continue to honor our veterans with events to share their stories and honor the service of all who have served and continue to serve our country. The day is an opportunity to recognize the service of each of our veterans in their various positions. Throughout the years, the events have changed based on the number of days in the year and the type of Veteran that has served.
“Veterans Day has evolved into a day where we recognize and dedicate ourselves to helping each other,” noted County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. “These events provide us with a chance to connect our veterans and the non-veterans in our community.”
In celebration of Veterans Day, this year, the theme and activities for the Veterans Day celebration will vary. Veterans Day events will be scheduled in compliance with the California Constitution.
